Demon delivery gods

The demon delivery gods were having a field day in our neighborhood today. First, my hate affair with UPS continues. They were supposed to deliver the proof copy of Retro Spec today via next day service, and their website claims it's on my porch--but it's not. Yes, this might not be their fault, except for the fact that we were home at the time they claimed they delivered it and neither of us heard the doorbell. Further, there wasn't much time for someone to have stolen it, because we checked the porch not long after the supposed delivery time. I suspect it went to the wrong house (they've done this before), so now we have to rely on the honesty/kindness of our neighbors. Otherwise, I'll have to report it to the shipper on Monday.

Then when we checked the regular postal service mail, all six pieces of mail belonged to our next door neighbors, leaving us to wonder which one of our neighbors actually has OUR mail. A day without mail is rare. What if the mailman was one house off for his entire route?

Demon delivery gods, get off of our street!

Honestly, I will never understand the vagaries of delivery service! We do wonderfully well with UPS on our street -- but FedEx, not so much. It's not rocket science! Why is it so difficult?!

You can't teach people to be detail oriented--they either are or they aren't. My UPS guy is definitely an "aren't." Do you want to trade services? ;-) We get a lot of UPS deliveries, but not much via FedEx.
