While in Boston, I learned that my cinquain "Atlantis" had earned an Honorable Mention in the recent DKA poetry contest. It will appear in the October issue, along with the other winning entries. I'd left myself with only two days to come up with something for the contest, so I decided a short form would be best. I started with a haiku, but needed just a bit more space for the dual inferno/paradiso theme, so went with the cinquain. I'm glad the judges didn't have any short-form prejudices. :-)
Here's another shot from our visit to the Public Garden in Boston. I'm not sure if it was just the time of year, but there seemed to be many more flowers than I remembered from my youth.
