Bob and I returned late Saturday evening after a one-week stay at our favorite beach house rental in Malibu. This time we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary (albeit belatedly for August 12), and, as always, had a positively glorious time.
The beach house deck is a nature watcher's paradise, and over the course of the week we saw dolphins, sea lions, herons (white and blue), hawks, and pelicans. This is a view of the house from the beach, about 80 feet below. It's the middle house with the long deck:
The human activity is fascinating as well, and always prompts me to wonder just how many ways our species will invent to ride a wave (surfing, kite surfing, windsurfing, paddle boarding, boogie boarding, etc.). We also spotted one Mr. Pierce Brosnan (that's two times in five stays at the beach house), when we took a walk on Broad Beach Road.
Of course, we had a week (minus one overcast day) of spectacular sunsets. It's always difficult to choose our favorite photos. Here's one, and perhaps I'll do a couple more in another post:
That's all nature--no filters were used.
