A while back I bought the complete DVD set of the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes mysteries. Last night I watched The Bruce-Partington Plans. At one point, Holmes wants to spread out a large map on the table, but long-suffering Mrs. Hudson is clearing away the dishes. With a wry smile, Holmes says, "Mrs. Hudson, you are hideously in the way." It's pure Brett Sherlock. If it sounds like I'm recommending a 12-DVD set based on one line, I kinda am. :-)

Glad I could help! It's a wonderful set and I'm enjoying it even more than I expected. The picture quality is high, much better than the grainy broadcasts, or so my memory tells me. Go watch. The game's afoot!

I watched "A Scandal in Bohemia" last night and it's still great! I was really impressed by Brett's performance in all that makeup. He's truly a master of disguise, because he was hardly recognizable! I think they may have remastered these DVDs, because the picture is terrific.

"Scandal" may be my favorite one. Gayle Hunnicutt is gorgeous and the perfect Irene Adler, Brett's portrayal of the ill parson is brilliant, and, of course, I'm kind of partial to the whole Holmes got beaten by a woman angle. Good stuff!
